Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin were spotted practicing the fine art of conscious uncoupling at dinner in Santa Monica, California on Thursday. The two appeared to enjoy a lovely dinner replete with a bottle of red at Giorgio Baldi. They laughed and chatted throughout the meal, setting a fine example of how to behave once you’ve announced to the world that your marriage is over.
“Gwyneth and Chris were in a great mood, laughing and sharing some wine,” a source says of the couple. “Everyone in the restaurant definitely noticed them, but they didn’t draw attention. It looked like there was no bad blood between them at all.”
The two tried in vain to avoid the paparazzi during their dinner. They even ducked out through the back door of the restaurant but not before a few shots were snapped of them as they made their escape with Gwyneth Paltrow driving.
Some speculate the two may have been headed off to her new Goop popup store. She shared in a recent Instagram about her impending retail endeavor. The store is rumored to be opening up soon in the Brentwood Country Mart in Los Angeles.
It was on Paltrow’s Goop website that she first announced her split from Chris Martin. The site crashed following the announcement.
“It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate. We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been. We are parents first and foremost, to two incredibly wonderful children and we ask for their and our space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time. We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and coparent, we will be able to continue in the same manner,” the announcement read.
The wesbite went down again this past Thursday–the day the couple met for dinner–when Gwyneth planned to hold an online yard sale of some of her personal belongings. Proceeds from the sale were to be donated to a local fund that helps with classroom needs via the requests of public school teachers.

It seems like Gwyneth Paltrow is full of surprises. From dinner with Chris Martin to online yard sales, the actress is certainly busy. Who do you suppose is at home minding the children–Apple and Moses–and making sure they eat only what their health-conscious mother allows?
