Gwyneth Paltrow made headlines last fall when an email was leaked from her to a group of her friends asking them not to comment to the media about her should they be asked. At the time, a piece was being prepped for Vanity Fair which was rumored to detail her affair with a man who may or may not have been hotelier Jeff Soffer. Now, an app called Whisper is the bearer of similar news thanks to a user who claims she's been cheating on husband Chris Martin of Coldplay with an entertainment lawyer.

“Vanity Fair is threatening to put me on the cover of their magazine,” Paltrow reportedly wrote last year. “If you are asked for quotes or comments, please decline. Also, I recommend you all never do this magazine again.”

After Paltrow's public denouncement of the magazine, she was able to successfully keep the story from going to print. As for the tension between the actress and the fashion mag, editor-in-chief Graydon Carter said it was something that went with the territory and let it go.

“We wouldn’t be doing our job if there wasn’t a little bit of tension between Vanity Fair and its subjects,” he said. “In any given week, I can expect to hear from a disgruntled subject in Hollywood, Washington, or on Wall Street. That’s the nature of the beast.”

Carter wrote about the incident in a letter included in the March edition of the magazine, saying the entire thing was blown out of proportion.

"The thing of it is, we really don’t publish “epic,” out-of-the-blue “takedowns” of individual public figures, unless they are in heated conflict with another public figure or unless their positions and their actions have a grievous effect on the lives of others. We’ll save our gunpowder for bigger stories. And so, sorry as we are to disappoint all those many people out there, for the time being we’ll leave it to another publication to roll out the “epic bombshells” surrounding Gwyneth Paltrow," he wrote.

However, there are others in the media who aren't letting it go. Whisper editor-in-chief Neetzan Zimmerman tweeted the message about Paltrow and followed up with a note to Gawker saying he had a good source with no reason to lie.

"I can't reveal their identity for obvious reasons, but it's a person with extremely close ties to Gwyneth who came to us directly after Graydon Carter wrote that missive about why VF walked away from the Paltrow profile last year. I have no reason to suspect they're lying about this, and if anyone would know the truth, this person would," Zimmerman said.

Paltrow's reps have vehemently denied the claims of unfaithfulness.
