  • The worlds of Game Of Thrones and The Hunger Games will be emerging with the latest casting of Gwendoline Christie. She will be replacing Lily Rabe as Commander Lyme in the final installment of the Hunger Games series.

Gwendoline Christie is now set to take over the role of Lyme, one of the leaders of District 13 who was a past victor in the Hunger Games, hailing originally from District 2. Fans of the series have not even seen Rabe in the role yet, but she has already been replaced.

Lily Rabe was forced to drop out of the final film of the series, but she will be seen in Mockingjay-Part 1, which will be released later this year. She left the last film due to a scheduling conflict, and she had a previous commitment to perform Much Ado about Nothing opposite Hamish Linklater at Shakespeare in the Park this summer in New York.

Game Of Thrones is one of the most popular shows on television, and likely helped with Christie getting the role. Season 4 of the series premieres on April 6th, as fans everywhere get ready for the new season.

The first two films have already been wildly successful, and have earned over $1.5 billion worldwide. The series has also turned Jennifer Lawrence into one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, and unrelated to the film, she also received an Academy Award nomination in 2013 and 2014.

The death of Phillip Seymour Hffman also brought his role in the series into question, and it was discussed how to replace him, or if the films will be delayed. Luckily for fans of the series, they will still be keeping their original release dates, but it will also be emotional without Hoffman in the final films.

Gwendoline Christie is known for her role as the warrior Brienne of Tarth on Game Of Thrones. She is likely to bring her aggressive skills as a warrior in the violent HBO series to the big screen, and be able to deliver a special performance as two of the biggest fantasy series connect. One actress from Game Of Thrones, Natalie Dormer, had already been chosen to join the Hunger Games series.

The final two installments of The Hunger Games series are currently being shot in Atlanta, and will switch production to Paris and Berlin later this year, where the filming of the franchise will conclude.

Are Game Of Thrones fans excited to see Gwendoline Christie heading to the big screen? Lionsgate will release Mockingjay – Part 1 on Nov. 21, 2014 with Mockingjay – Part 2 due to come out the following year.
