Gwen Stefani has been a busy bee over the past few years, raising a family with her husband Gavin Rossdale and focusing on her fashion line L.A.M.B. She’s also signed on to be a judge on The Voice, where she works with Pharrell Williams, and the two are partnering up away from the show as well.
Stefani says she’s working with the beat master in the studio on a new solo album–her first in eight years–and is also working with her longtime band No Doubt on new music. As much as she has on her plate, she says she believes she can do it all, and Williams agrees with her.
“At this point I’m thinking about both, I can do both. And it’s just an amazing time; so many opportunities. I’m going into the studio tonight with Pharrell [Williams], I’m going to be writing and also just seeing what comes along my way. I’ve been recording a few things,” she told MTV.
Williams seems in awe of Stefani, who, at nearly 45 years old, still has what it takes to make a hit record.
“You’ll never believe that she does not look her age, she doesn’t look like she’s had three children — but that’s the cool part, she is her age and she’s had three children and she’s killing it. When I tell you she’s killing it, it’s another level. Gwen is somewhere else,” Williams said.
Stefani just had her third son, Apollo, six months ago and says her oldest, Kingston, may have been partially responsible for her pregnancy.
“He asked me, ‘Mom, are you going to have a baby? I want you to have a baby.’ I was like, ‘It’s over. We’re not having any more. This is our family. But Kingston … has a direct link to God, basically. He said, ‘Dear God, please let my mom have a baby. Please, God! Please let my mom have a baby.’ I swear to you, he prayed every single night, and four weeks later, I was pregnant,” she told Seth Meyers.
