Gwen Stefani has been pulled in several directions at once for a long time; the No Doubt frontwoman juggles a solo music career with that of her band’s at the same time she’s designing clothing and fragrances, and somewhere in there she manages to find time to raise a family. But, she says, even she can’t do it all at once. When she became pregnant with her third son last year, she had to take a short break from fashion.
“It was really hard for me to do much else, so I kind of had to walk away. It’s really hard, but I’ve always liked to clash things. You get to be in one world, and the next minute you’re in another world,” she told People.
Stefani says she’s been working on some new fragrances for her Harajuku Lovers line for a while now, and is excited to debut them.
“They also reflect where I am right now, which is totally surreal because I worked on them so long ago and it all coincides in a weird unplanned way. I love when that happens,” she said.
The Voice judge has been having a blast on the new season of the show, but she’s somehow also working on a new solo album–her first in eight years–and new music with No Doubt. It’s a heavy workload, but she says she believes she can do it and her friend Pharrell agrees, saying she’s on “another level”.
“At this point I’m thinking about both, I can do both. And it’s just an amazing time; so many opportunities. I’m going into the studio tonight with Pharrell [Williams], I’m going to be writing and also just seeing what comes along my way. I’ve been recording a few things,” she told MTV.
