Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton managed to avoid “awkward” questions about their budding romance, thanks to a little help from their fellow The Voice coaches.
The Voice coach quartet sat down Monday for a candid interview with Natalie Morales on the Today show. Things were moving along just fine — thank you very much — until Morales began to question the new couple about their relationship.

It seems everyone noted that Stefani did not sit next to her new beau during the foursome’s appearance on the morning show, but instead sat between Adam Levine and Pharrell Williams.
Morales went straight to the point, asking Gwen and Blake, “Is it good to just be out in the open now?”
“That was a nice segue,” Williams quipped, coming to the aid of his friends.

And even before Gwen Stefani or Blake Shelton could answer the question, Levine started to sing, “Next question! Ask the next question before it gets awkward.”
No word from either Blake or Gwen on the topic, but it was obvious the No Doubt singer thoroughly enjoyed her fellow coaches’ response to Morales’ inquiries.
On the other hand, Levine and Shelton’s “bromance” was far from being off limits.
“I hate his stupid face,” Levine said of his buddy.

When asked what song would best describe the guys’ friendship, Shelton came up with a few classics.
“You know that song That Smell?” he said, referring to Lynyrd Skynyrd’s 1977 classic. “Or what about Lick It Up?” Shelton added, referring to the 1983 hit by KISS.
