Google is making a welcome change to Android, separating the Notification and Ringtone volume controls.

According to 9to5Google, the change could be coming in Android 13 QPR3 or 14. The outlet spotted “an ADB command that created separate ‘Ring volume’ and ‘Notification volume’ sliders in the Settings > Sound & vibration menu. This joined Media, Call, and Alarm volume for a total of five sliders.”

9to5Google goes on to say that a feature request for the separated controls has been marked as “Fixed,” with the notes saying: “The requested feature will be available in a future build.”

Android already has a better volume control widget than iOS and this change should make it even better.
