  • Gisele Bundchen is under fire this week after a photo of the supermodel and her daughter on an ATV went viral.

Bundchen is seen holding 1-year old daughter Vivian close to her but without a helmet as she drives the vehicle on a beach. While riding an ATV without head protection is illegal in Costa Rica, where Bunchen and her family was on vacation, a rep for the model says the beach was private.

“Gisele was on a private beach driving very, very slowly,” the rep said.

This isn’t the first time Bundchen has been spotted on an ATV with her baby; Vivian was just three months old the first time a photo was captured showing the model wearing a carrier holding the baby while husband Tom Brady rode behind her.

Bundchen has also taken heat for piercing her daughter’s ears at just seven months old, and for a photo she posted to Instagram recently that showed her in a chair breastfeeding the baby while a team of stylists did her hair, makeup, and nails.

“Some people here [in the United States] think they don’t have to breast-feed, and I think, ‘Are you going to give chemical food to your child when they are so little?'” she told Harper’s Bazaar UK in 2010 after the birth of son Benjamin. “I think there should be a worldwide law, in my opinion, that mothers should breast-feed their babies for six months.”

Blogger Michelle Regalado wrote about the first incident, saying it was irresponsible of Bundchen to take the child on an unstable vehicle no matter how slowly she was driving.

“Their stupid actions are especially infuriating given how obnoxiously opinionated Bundchen has been in the past about parenting issues, proclaiming that all moms should have natural at-home births and that breastfeeding should be a law. Right, but letting your 3-month-old recklessly ride on an ATV is just dandy?”
