George Clooney and his gorgeous wife Amal Alamuddin Clooney dined recently with Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. The trio enjoyed food and conversation at the luxury Italian restaurant Harry Cipriani in New York City on Wednesday.

According to a report from E! News, George Clooney and his wife arrived at the restaurant first and waited for Sotomayor at the bar. The couple chatted with the people around them and the actor drank his own Casamigos Tequila, which is served regularly at the venue.

Sonia Sotomayor arrived a while later and dined with Mr. and Mrs. Clooney for several hours.

So what’s the connection here? Did the Mrs. Sotomayor dine with Amal and George Clooney simply because of their fame? No. Amal Clooney. Amal used to work as a student law clerk for Sotomayor when the justice was a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. At the time, George Clooney’s wife was enrolled in the NYU School of Law.

George Clooney is in New York working on a film called Money Monster, while Amal Clooney is guest teaching at Columbia Law School. The two are expected to be living in New York throughout most of the summer.

What an honor it must have been for George Clooney and his wife to have dinner with Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. And Mrs. Sotomayor no doubt enjoyed the attention their table must have received having the very attractive couple at her table.
