In an unexpected turn of events, Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters somehow found themselves performing under a giant Apple logo at yesterday’s big iPhone 5 event.
The band was the closing act, appearing on stage after Tim Cook and Phil Schiller had announced the new iPhone 5, a new iTunes, new iPod touch, and a new iPod Nano. Foo Fighters played a three-track set, including “Times Like These,” “My Hero,” and “Walk.” I’m not sure if we’re supposed to read into those choices or anything, so I won’t.
Anyway, Grohl and company went acoustic for the set and took some time in between songs to talk about the occasion for which they’e playing.
“One of the great things about being here is getting to meet all the people, the incredible people that are shaping our future,” said Grohl between “Times Like These” and “My Hero.”
“Just like when you get to meet someone like Little Richard, Tom Petty, Jimmy Page, you realize these are just people that took it upon themselves to do something different – to change the world and shape our future. but you meet them and they’re flesh and bone. They’re people, and it’s totally inspiring.”
