Can you believe that it’s already been 12 years since the release of Final Fantasy X? It only just seems like yesterday that I was immensely disappointed that Square followed up the wondrous Final Fantasy IX with the good, but not as good, Final Fantasy X. Still, the game has millions of fans, and they’re waiting anxiously for the HD remaster coming out this year.
At Gamescom, Square Enix showed off a new trailer for Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD that shows off the newly arranged and remastered soundtrack that will accompany the title. The main difference between the two is that the new music has more instrumentation in the form of an accompanying electric guitar that wasn’t readily apparent in the original track.
The trailer also gives us a look at how the combat looks in Final Fantasy X HD. It looks like Square Enix changed up the battle UI to make everything look a lot sharper. They also revamped the turn order display to take up less space while still providing the same information.
There’s still no release date for Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD, but it will be out later this year on both the PS3 and PS Vita.
