Fergie Duhamel is the new Stacy Ferguson, and her husband is delighted with the name change, calling it “sweet”.
Fergie, the only female member of the Black Eyed Peas, has been going by her nickname for years now and says no one ever calls her Stacy; now that she’s about to become a mom with husband of four years Josh Duhamel, she’s eager to make an official name change to avoid confusion.
A legal name change isn’t an easy thing to acquire, however; Fergie will have to print a notice in a local newspaper for four consecutive weeks and has had to make several court appearances. The mom-to-be is also gearing up for the arrival of her first child with Duhamel, and he says he’ll be taking as much time off as possible for the big day.
“I plan on taking as much time as I can off just before and as much time as possible after. I can’t imagine having a kid and then not being able to be there, that would just drive me crazy,” Duhamel said.
The couple have confirmed that they are having a boy, and Duhamel recently praised his wife for how well she’s done with the pregnancy.
“I’m mostly impressed with how gracefully . . . I mean she’s just been awesome throughout this whole thing,” he said. “She’s taken really good care of herself, she’s happy, she’s in great spirits, she looks beautiful and I’m just really proud of her more than anything. And I’m really excited to meet this little dude. I can’t wait.”
