In a bizarre story out of Florida, a woman is accused of tying her ex-husband to the back of her truck and dragging him along the road for half a mile before he escaped.

The man, 54-year old Robert Hall, says he was staying at the New Smyrna Beach home of his ex–61-year old Jeanette Morris–while she was away with her truck-driving duties. When she returned from her trip, however, she explained to police officers that she believed Hall’s girlfriend was staying there as well, and asked for an escort in order to stay out of trouble. They obliged, and Morris promised she would stay with her brother that night. Instead, she, Hall, Hall’s girlfriend Joan Hobart, and Morris’s brother Harold Anderson stayed and began drinking together.

After that, Hall says, things got ugly. He claims the other three ganged up on him, used a stun gun to subdue him, and tied him to the back of a truck, dragging him half a mile. They stopped at that point and threw him in the bed of the truck, where they alternately made threats of scalping him and finding a hole to dump his body in before he managed to escape. He is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital for bleeding on the brain, a broken pelvis and broken bones in his face.

The three suspects have each been charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, false imprisonment, aggravated battery and aggravated assault.

Last year, a Texas man was charged with the murder of his girlfriend after he allegedly tied her to the bumper of a vehicle with a noose.
