Eva Green has a busy schedule, and several of her projects see her dressed in period costumes, complete with old-fashioned hairstyles and makeup. Recently, she revealed what her look will be for Tim Burton’s highly-anticipated (at least by this writer) film adaptation Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children, calling her hairstyle “bonkers”.

“The role I’m playing now is quite cool. My hair is kind of bonkers. It’s a 40s style with a twist. I also loved my look in another movie I starred in, called Cracks. It’s set in the 30s – all high-waisted pants and bobbed hair,” Green said.

The Penny Dreadful star says she has to have a good beauty routine due to the heavy makeup she’s required to wear during filming, but also because of harsh weather conditions. And sometimes, the makeup itself can be a challenge.

“Filming in Ireland last winter really took its toll on my skin. I rely on a good, fragrance-free make-up remover from Cetaphil or Avène and apply a cold cream to replenish my skin. I always wear SPF, but find factor 50 is too pale and thick, so I use SkinCeuticals Brightening UV Defense SPF 30. I love Sisley’s treatments, too. Make-up can be dangerous when you have pale skin – sometimes I can look like Morticia Addams!”

Eva Green also spoke about how sensitive her skin is, which is common in fair people.

“I’m like a vampire. I have to wear sunscreen or I look like a prawn! Even in winter I wear SPF30 – Skinceuticals Brightening UV Defence SPF30 and La Roche-Posay Anthelios Face Anti-Shine Dry Touch Gel SPF50+ are my favourites. It’s easier to apply make-up over the top of SPF30 than 50, which can be thick. I have thin, fragile skin so I’m not a big fan of exfoliating and I don’t tend to get facials either.”

The hit Showtime series made headlines this week when it was announced that Patti Lupone has been promoted to a regular on the show; she’ll reportedly play American Dr. Seward in the upcoming season. Lupone had formerly guest starred as the Cut-Wife on the horror series, which stars Green, Josh Hartnett, and Timothy Dalton.
