If you’re looking to stream FOX’s new hit drama Empire, you’re going to have to go to Hulu.

Through a deal with Twentieth Century Fox, Hulu has snagged the exclusive streaming rights to the show – both current and future episodes. New episodes will pop up on Hulu one day after they air on FOX.

“Today, Hulu is very proud to announce that we are investing in Empire’s IPO, and we think it’s gonna be huge. Take that, Boo Boo Kitty. In a new deal with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution, Hulu becomes the exclusive SVOD home to TV’s biggest hit of the year…airing current AND future episodes.”

“‘Empire’s’ storylines and music continue to dominate the popular culture conversation each week,” said Craig Erwich, senior VP and head of content at Hulu. “Since its premiere, the series has remained one of the top shows on Hulu, and we are ecstatic to be the exclusive streaming home to the biggest show of the year.”

Empire has become broadcast television’s number one show. Wednesday night’s two-hour finale grabbed 16.7 viewers and a 6.5 rating in the all-important 18-49 demo. When you just look at the 9pm hour, it saw a whopping 17.6 million viewers. In fact, Empire‘s ratings consistently grew week-to-week all season.

Part of what makes the show so appealing is the music, and the soundtrack has debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.

With popularity like that, Empire is a pretty good get for Hulu.
