Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are getting back together. We knew that much already. The onscreen couple steamed up Crazy, Stupid Love then Gangster Squad. The thought that Emma Stone might have more onscreen steam with Ryan Gosling in a new musical called La La Land has fans all a-twitter.
The musical, directed by Damien Chazelle who did Whiplash, was originally intended for Whiplash star Miles Teller and Harry Potter alum Emma Watson. But Emma Watson has attached to the upcoming Disney live-action version of Beauty and the Beast, so Chazelle went out and snagged Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling.

Now that pair have been joined by another Chazelle favorite, Whiplash star J.K. Simmons.
The Wrap describes La La Land thusly:
“La La Land is a two-hander [having two main characters, as opposed to an ensemble cast] that follows a pair of dreamers — aspiring actress Mia (played by Emma Stone), who’s lonely desperate to fit in, and cocky yet charismatic jazz pianist Sebastian (played by Ryan Gosling) — who fall in love in Los Angeles. However, the city that brought them together may tear them apart, as they soon discover that balancing love and art in such a cutthroat climate isn’t easy.”
J.K. Simmons adds the character called The Boss in the mix.
J.K. Simmons brings weight and recent success with Chazzelle to the proceedings. He won a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his portrayal of an abusive music teacher in Whiplash.
JK Simmons is the voice of the yellow M&M?!? Great, I can't chew without worrying if my tempo is rushing or dragging.

Emma Stone is currently still basking in the glow of her Woody Allen film Irrational Man. She starred in that with Joaquin Phoenix and Parker Posey.
La La Land is set for a July 2016 release.
