The Real Slim Shady is the official king of Facebook.
The rapper has just crossed the 60 million “likes” threshold – the first person to ever do so. At 60.1 million likes (at the time of this post), Eminem is more popular on the social network than Rihanna, Shakira, Lady Gaga, and the late Michael Jackson – all of whom sport 50+ million likes themselves.
Although Eminem rules Facebook, he has some work to do if he wants the same sort of influence over the Twittersphere. Marshall Mathers (@eminem) has just shy of 12 million Twitter followers, which may sound like a huge amount. And it is – until you compare it with the undisputed Queen of Twitter, Lady Gaga. She currently sports 27.85 million followers.
According to PageData, Eminem will probably remain King of the Facebook likes for the foreseeable future. That’s because he’s gaining more likes per day than any of his closest competitors. As of right now, Eminem is gaining 31,156 new likes every day. To put that in perspective, Shakira, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga are gaining 22,234, 22,142, and 6,437 per day, respectively.
Although Eminem is the most-liked person on Facebook, he doesn’t operate the most-liked page. The YouTube page, the Facebook official page, Texas Hold’em Poker, and Facebook for Every Phone all hold more likes. The latter sports an impressive 117.9 million.
Although Eminem clearly has the most likes, it doesn’t mean that he’s generating that much buzz on the network. Facebook recently added a “people talking about this” metric to pages, and Eminem’s sits at a relatively low 290K (considering how many likes he has). By comparison, over 1.1 million people are currently “talking about” Lady Gaga on Facebook.
