For all of you “Grey’s Anatomy” lovers out there, you can rest easy, the show isn’t going anywhere for a least two more years.

The show, which is just starting its 10th season, is one of ABC’s most popular shows. Among total viewers Grey’s is third at ABC, trailing Castle and Scandal,

The new contract does not guarantee that Grey’s will continue its run beyond its current 10th season, however it is a good sign.

The love affair between Pompeo’s character, Meredith Grey and her ‘on screen’ husband, “Derek Shephard” played by Patrick Dempsey, is legendary. It is the heart and soul of Grey’s for those who have been fans from the beginning.

Their romantic start was a rocky one, but they have found a way to mold their lives as husband and wife, and remain top surgeons at Seattle Grace Hospital.

News is though, one of the main characters, Dr. Cristina Yang, played by Sandra Oh, has decided to leave the show after the 10th season ends.

According to Oh, “Creatively, I really feel like I gave it my all, and I feel ready to let her go,” an emotional Oh tells THR. “It’s such an interesting thing to play a character for so long and to actually get the sense that she wants to be let go as well. [Cristina] wants to be let go, and I am ready to let her go. We have to start the process, story-wise, for the Grey’s writers to think of why she’s going to go.”

The decision to sign Pompeo and Dempsey, who have been the central pair on the medical drama since its inception, is believed to have a lot to do with Oh’s exit. Oh was one of Grey’s originals, and one of the most beloved characters.

Meanwhile, ABC president Paul Lee said Tuesday he hoped Grey’s Anatomy would continue ‘for many years’ to come, reports E!.

So, for all of the faithful “Grey’s” fans, you don’t have to say goodbye to the entire show for at least another season, although the future seasons won’t be the same without Dr. Christina Yang.
