And the Mirrorball Trophy goes to … Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy!
The Olympic ice dancer and the bad boy of Dancing With the Stars took the crown last night on the show’s season 18 finale.
Davis and Chmerkovskiy had danced strong together for the entire season, causing many fans and dancers to believe that the title was Davis’ to lose. Chmerkovskiy has never won the title, but has come close several times.
Davis and Chmerkovskiy have also raised a few eyebrows throughout the show because of the chemistry between the two. Chmerkovskiy is not shy in revealing how he feels about the Gold Medal winner, even saying in a package last night that the two were going to have babies together and he would propose on the day of the finale. Although Chmerkovskiy was likely joking, there’s a definite connection between them they have both been reluctant to talk about, particularly Davis.
See the chemistry for yourself:
The winning duo shimmied and shook against some fierce competition. The other pairs left standing were Paralympic snowboarder Amy Purdy and Derek Hough, and actress Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas.
Purdy, a double amputee, stunned fans and judges alike by her ability to dance amazingly well, even while wearing prosthetics on both legs. While she and Hough came close, they weren’t able to out dance Davis and Chmerkovskiy and came in second.

Bure was the dark horse for almost the entire season. Although she wasn’t the worst dancer, she also wasn’t the best but made it much farther along than many others. She and Ballas took home third place.
The finale featured a variety of performances, including last year’s DWTS winner Amber Riley, singer Christina Perri and pop duo Iggy Azalea.
