Drew Peterson, who has been a person of interest in his fourth wife’s disappearance since 2007, was found guilty of murder today for the death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, in 2004.
Savio’s official cause of death was ruled as an accidental fall in a bathtub, but the case was reopened after Peterson’s next wife, Stacy, went missing. Although no evidence has been found that Stacy was murdered, officials–as well as her family members–believe Peterson was responsible for her death.
The guilty verdict was read just before three p.m. today, with reports that Peterson showed no emotion when it was given. The courtroom, however, gave an “audible gasp”. Jurors took less than 14 hours to deliberate.
It is the hope of Stacy Peterson’s family members that with the sentencing will come answers as to what happened to her, although Drew Peterson hasn’t been forthcoming with any information regarding his fourth wife so far.
We will update this story as more details develop.
