  • In his victory speech on Tuesday evening, Donald Trump said that he may reopen Trump University if he ever wins as president of the United States.

“If I become president that means Ivanka, Don, Eric, and my family will start it up,” he said. “We have a lot of great people who want to get back into Trump University, it’s going to do very well and it will continue to do very well.”

The university is facing three lawsuits for allegedly luring students into signing up for expensive real estate courses and investment mentorships from Trump and other gurus. However, the said seminars were not delivered.

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman sued the now-defunct school for $40 million in 2013. Schneiderman said the university deceived students into enrolling in his costly programs.

The suits against Trump’s educational venture became a problem in his campaigns as the issue was brought up in debates just recently, and a conservative super PAC launched its own anti-Trump campaign ad featuring former students of the said university.

The outspoken presidential candidate responded to the ad with a video of his own. He also said that Trump University got an A rating from BBB. However, the BBB clarified that Trump University “does not currently have an A rating with BBB.” The agency stated that the university has had no rating since September 2015.

The nonprofit organization revealed that Trump University had a “D minus” grade in 2010 after receiving multiple complaints from unsatisfied customers.

“As the company appeared to be winding down, after 2013, no new complaints were reported,” the BBB said in a statement. “Complaints over three years old automatically rolled off of the Business Review, according to BBB policy. As a result, over time, Trump University’s BBB rating went to an A in July 2014 and then to an A+ in January 2015.”
