Disney Channel is now looking for new cast members for the much-anticipated installment of the successful franchise High School Musical. On Tuesday, the cable channel announced on its Twitter page that they were launching a “nationwide casting search” for High School Musical 4.

The hit Disney Channel Original Movie franchise introduced some of the popular artists we know today like Zac Efron, Ashley Tisdale, Vanessa Hudgens, and many more. It ended in 2008 with the theatrical release of High School Musical 3: Senior Year.

The big announcement marks the tenth anniversary of the first film, which premiered on the Disney Channel. Fans will be introduced to new East High Wildcats and new rivals from the West High Knights.

Jeffrey Hornaday, known for his work on Disney Channel’s Teen Beach Movie franchise, will direct and choreograph High School Musical 4. Dan Berendsen (Baby Daddy and Disney’s Hannah Montana: The Movie) and Peter Barsocchini, who wrote all three High School Musical movies, will write the screenplay for the fourth installment.

Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush are the executive producers, while Natalie Hart, Jason La Padura, and Kendra Patterson will serve as the casting directors for the planned Disney movie.

The musical film was widely successful, with the first movie garnering 7.7 million viewers. Its soundtrack easily went triple platinum and became the highest-rated program on Disney during that period. The third installment earned more than $250 million worldwide.
