  • It was recently reported that former “Glee” co-star, Dianna Agron, was not invited to appear on the emotional tribute episode for the late Cory Monteith.

“It’s shocking, because even though she’s not contracted for this season, many other actors returned to pay tribute to Cory…even ones with less of a story connection to Finn than Diana had!” an insider told Radar. “Remember, she played his GIRLFRIEND on the series, and was a major part of his storyline.”

The insider goes on to say that Monteith’s real-life girlfriend, Lea Michele, and the show’s co-creator, Ryan Murphy, “intensely dislike Dianna and have both worked to marginalize her as much as possible.”

“They never saw her as a team player,” the insider continued. “They simply did not want her sharing the glory for this very special episode.”

However, a report from E! says the complete opposite. “She is still very much a part of the Glee family and always welcome,” another insider explained. Agron was even invited to, and attended, Monteith’s memorial service in July.

Agron also released a statement after Monteith’s death.

I have never lost a friend. In this difficult time, I am leaning on all of the wonderful memories we shared with Cory, how many ways he was able to make us smile. Glee was a gift to all of us. It gave us a family in this industry. We really cut our teeth and grew up on this show. In playing underdogs, we learned that we had dug into the hearts of our viewers and that we could stay there. Cory is so deserving of that place in everyone’s hearts. He was one of the most generous and kind people that I have ever met. He had a smart, curious mind, he was an enormous talent. He was loving to not only me but my family. My heart goes out to his family, to Lea, to everyone that is struggling with the loss of our friend. We will miss you Cory. We will always carry a piece of you with us.

Monteith voluntarily checked himself into a rehab facility in April, after struggling with drug and alcohol abuse. On July 13, 31-year-old, Montieth, was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room and it was later confirmed that his cause of death was from “combined heroin and alcohol toxicity.”
