Around one month ago, Square Enix revealed that it is bringing a version of Deus Ex to Apple’s mobile devices. Titled Deus Ex: The Fall, the game features a new story with a new protagonist. The gameplay from Deus Ex: Human Revolution has been modified to work with touch screen devices such as the iPad.
Today Ubisoft revealed that the game will be available in the iOS App Store on Thursday, July 11. It will cost $6.99/£4.99/€5.99 and will be playable on generation 2 iPads and newer iPads; on iPhone 4S and iPhone 5; and on the latest version of the iPod Touch.
Deus Ex: The Fall is another example of large game publishers attempting to create console-like experiences on mobile devices. Square Enix itself has been porting the older Final Fantasy games to mobile platforms, and Ubisoft last week announced an HD remake of Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame will be coming to mobile platforms later this month. The Fall is certainly more ambitious than old-school platformer or JRPG ports, and probably ranks alongside Firaxis’ XCOM: Enemy Unknown as one of the highest-budget games to come to iOS.
