Dancing With the Stars saw contestant Tamar Braxton hospitalized for pneumonia this week. She was taken to the hospital when she became too sick to continue rehearsing on Monday. Pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy confirmed her diagnosis.
Co-host Tom Bergeron announced at the beginning of the Dancing With the Stars broadcast that Tamar wasn’t there, and admitted he didn’t know if she would return in time to compete.
“Tamar is not here. You’ve noticed that. She was taken to the hospital earlier today midday through dress rehearsal,” he said. “Now, I underscored at the top, this is very much a live show. We don’t have all the information right now. She might return in time to dance live here. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.”
Judges scored Tamar Braxton by viewing video footage of her dress rehearsal.

“You just saw a person that shouldn’t have been here, but was here because she felt bad for her teacher and partner,” Chmerkovskiy said after the footage aired. “She came on the lot 15 minutes before we danced, sick with pneumonia and exhausted.”
Tamar returned to Dancing With the Stars shortly before her group dance with Nick Carter.

“What the hell were you thinking? I’m amazed you are here,” Tom Bergeron said to Braxton after her dance with Carter to “Hey Jude.”
It sounds like exhaustion may have played a very strong role in Tamar Braxton leaving Dancing With the Stars for the hospital.
“Monday through Wednesday I was at The Real. Thursday I was in Vegas. Friday I came back to L.A. and had a concert with Kem,” she explained in her video package. “Saturday I got on a plane and went to Orlando. Sunday I’m back here, doing my camera blocking.”
Following her performance, Tom Bergeron informed Tamar Braxton–per network lawyers–that had she not shown up in time to dance, she would have automatically been eliminated from Dancing With the Stars.
