Cynthia Nixon marries fiancee Christine Marinoni: It’s been three years since the couple got engaged, so it’s about time they finally tied the matrimonial knot. According to People, the pair officially entered the wonderful world of wedded bliss on May 27th, with Nixon sporting a custom pale green dress by Carolina Herrera.
Although Nixon and Marinoni have been dating since 2004, the pair decided to get engaged during a New York City same-sex marriage rally in 2009. Previous to this relationship, Nixon was in a relationship with photographer Danny Mozes for 16 years, during which they had two children.
Nixon recently came under fire for her remarks that seemed to suggest that a person’s sexuality was a choice. Since everyone appeared hellbent in taking her words out of context, the “Sex and the City” actress was forced to clarify her stance.
“While I don’t often use the word, the technically precise term for my orientation is bisexual,” she explained to the Advocate. “I believe bisexuality is not a choice, it is a fact. What I have ‘chosen’ is to be in a gay relationship.”
Same-sex marriage wasn’t legal in New York until 2011. The couple had previously stated they were waiting until legislation was passed to make their union official.
Below you can find some well-wishes from various Twitter users who took some time out of their
insanely not-so busy schedules to share their thoughts with the world.
