Curt Schilling, the famous Boston Red Sox player known for his ‘bloody sock’ during the 2004 World Series winning game, is undergoing serious financial issues and has dropped a half million dollars off the asking price of the home he is selling outside of Boston. This past fall the family held an estate sale in an effort to raise funds, and sold off many of their personal belongings.
The Schilling home–located in Medford, Massachusetts–was purchased from former New England Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe back in 2004 for $4.5 million. The home is now listed for $2.5 million. A local real estate agent confirmed the new asking price. Boasting 20 rooms, the home also features 7 bedrooms, an 8-car garage, a pool, a movie theater, a putting green, and both pitching and batting cages. Schilling lived in the home with wife Shonda Schilling and children Gabriella, Garrison, Gehrig and Grant.
Curt Schilling lost a huge sum of money from an investment gone wrong. He invested at least $50 million in 38 Studios–his own video game company that operated in Rhode Island. The company ultimately failed.
38 Studios was initially known as Green Monster Games–named after the famous seats at Fenway Park in Boston. The number 38 was Curt Schilling’s Boston Red Sox jersey number. The company was focused on building a new MMORPG, a kind of video game the former baseball player played. The company wound up creating one game that saw moderate success and was in the middle of developing a second when declaring bankruptcy.
In addition to all of his financial woes, Curt Schilling is also suffering from an undisclosed form of cancer. He tweeted the following when word of his diagnosis went public.
Overwhelmed at the well wishes, and prayers. Bless all of you. No pity or sympathy needed, I've been beyond blessed. I'm ready for this

“Week 2 begins with radiation and unfortunately more surgery,” he said during an interview with NESN earlier in March. “Not gonna break me, though, way too much faith in Him and love from friends and family.”
Curt Schilling is a devout Christian and has a history of giving God the glory for all of his accomplishments. Hopefully he is able to receive this new asking price for the family’s home in order to raise some much needed funds–especially in light of his present health situation.
