Courtney Stodden fans will be disappointed to know that her upcoming gig at West Hollywood gay bar The Abbey has been canceled due to concerns of the club owners that the venue was getting too much press.

The barely-legal teen stirred up a big pot of controversy when she married then-50-year old actor Doug Hutchison at the tender age of 16. Since then, the couple has made the reality television rounds, built up a campy following on Twitter, grossed everyone out with their PDA and highly sexualized photo shoots of Courtney, and essentially begged for attention through any outlet possible. Stodden, who is now 18, had made plans for next week to make her singing debut at The Abbey, where she was also going to jump on the stripper pole, but the show has been stamped out in light of the teen wife’s growing public image.

“It was too much for the Abbey to handle, too much press and controversy,” says Courtney’s mom, Krista Keller. “Courtney’s not disappointed. She rolls with the punches.”

Courtney’s rep, however, tells it a bit differently.

“The reasons for the cancellation provided by SBE are a mystery to us and based on fear, in our opinion,” said Jim Strzalkowski. “It is most unfortunate that a venue such as the SBE-controlled Abbey needs to approve and censor performers that audiences want to see, and would not be able to control the crowds and paparazzi anxious to see Courtney’s show. Courtney Stodden has a huge gay fan base and truly loves and adores everyone in the community. At this time, Courtney is heartbroken and we are currently seeking alternate opportunities for Courtney to make her debut club performance in West Hollywood.”
