Colin Kaepernick was the subject of much speculation on Thursday when several articles hit the web describing his alleged involvement in a sexual assault that occurred in early April. Today, the 49ers quarterback took to Twitter to set the record straight and says he was not involved in anything of the sort.
TMZ was the first to break the news, saying that they had obtained a police report filed by a woman who claimed she was at the apartment of Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette, along with Kaepernick and his teammate, Quinton Patton. The woman said in the report that she went to a bedroom and began making out with Kaepernick, with whom she had a previous sexual relationship, and that he undressed her. However, she says he left the room at one point and she can’t remember anything that happened for the rest of the night. She claims to have woken up in a hospital room unsure of how she got there.
Kaepernick responded to the report on Twitter Friday, saying it is completely made up.
(1/3) The charges made in the TMZ story and other stories I’ve seen are completely wrong. They make things up about me that never happened.

(2/3) I take great pride in who I am and what I do, but I guess sometimes you have to deal with someone who makes things up.

(3/3) I want to thank all of the people who have shared their encouraging sentiments. I assure you that your faith is not misplaced.

No charges have been filed, but police are reportedly investigating it as a “suspicious incident”.
