  • Christina Aguilera was in mommy mode when she chatted recently with People magazine. She gushed about new baby girl Summer Rain–who is five months old–and son Max, who is seven. She shared some of those intimate details that only a mom completely enthralled with the concept of new life can appreciate.

“I have a chill baby, she’s just so calm and so easy to make laugh and smile, she’s just a breeze, thank God!” she said of her new baby. “She’s just so beautiful, these big blue eyes, she’s just so gorg … [I’m] very happy and feel very blessed having Summer Rain in my life.”

Christina Aguilera and fiance Matt Rutler are parents to the new baby. Christina shares son Max with ex-husband Jordan Bratman.

It’s the relationship between Max and Summer Rain that has Aguilera the most intrigued right now.

“He’s just so endearing and sweet to her,” she says.

She also admits she insists upon some pretty stringent health rules when it comes to allow Max to handle his baby sister.

“I’m like, ‘Wash your hands before you touch the baby’ … you don’t want the germs,” she explains. “He’s in school … there’s a little age gap, but it’s perfect though because then they don’t fight over toys.”

“He’s the big helper and the big teacher so he’s awesome. He’s just so loving and sweet,” she adds. “I’m like, ‘How old are you?’ He’s like a grandma to her, he’s just like, ‘I’ll teach you everything.’”

Christina Aguilera is a busy woman at the moment. Preparing to return as a coach on The Voice in February, alongside Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Pharrell Williams, she has also been busy in the recording studio. She and Pharrell Williams ‘connected,’ as she says, while she was pregnant, and the result will no doubt be magical.

“It’s genuine and it’s heartfelt and I’m very excited to pour my heart out into this record fully,” she says of her upcoming new album. “I’ve been gathering and writing and coming up with these amazing ideas for different parts of how I was feeling the past year, so I’m really excited to vocalize all of it and make it all come together.”

It seems motherhood behooves Christina Aguilera. Might it resonate on her new album? Most any kind of collaboration with Pharrell Williams results in phenomenal music. Combine that with the powerhouse vocals of Christina Aguilera, and something Grammy-worthy could be in the works.

Christina Aguilera returns to season eight of The Voice on February 23rd.
