On Sunday., Dec. 15, country singer Chris Cagle was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. According to Billboard, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported that the 45-year-old singer was arrested Sunday morning near Greenville, which is located approximately 50 miles north of the Dallas metropolitan area.

Reuters reports that police stated Cagle, who resides in Marietta, OK, was stopped after running a red light while driving a 2008 pick-up truck. Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meek briefly provided details of Cagle’s arrest, stating that he was under alcohol influence and was taken into custody after failing to complete a field sobriety test. Cagle was later charged with driving while intoxicated.

The Back in the Saddle singer was booked into the Hunt County Jail. Cagle has since been released on $3,000 bond late Sunday.

The Hunt County Sheriff’s Office was contacted again on Tuesday, and no further details were provided. However, Sgt. reported that no information had been provided on any attorney representing Cagle as of yet.

In the state of Texas, the penalty for a Class B misdemeanor DWI carries a fine of up to $2,000, with the possibility of up to six months in jail. If convicted, the charge will be Cagle’s third involving the misuse of alcohol. In 2008, Cagle was charged with assault as a result of a physical altercation with a fan’s boyfriend. Then, only months later, Cagle was arrested on domestic violence charges.

Cagle has also admitted to having problems with alcohol abuse in the past. In a past interview with Taste of Country, Cagle even shared that he had stopped drinking and smoking with the intent of bettering his health.

Throughout his music career, Cagle has released a total of five official studio albums, with two reaching gold status. His biggest record to date was his 2001 hit single, “I Breathe In, I Breathe Out,” which reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts.
