Chris Brown was supposedly the intended target at an L.A. nightclub shooting during which founder-and-CEO of Black Kapital Records, Suge Knight, was shot several times. Knight underwent surgery in the hours following the shooting. His injuries were said to be non-life threatening.
In addition to Suge Knight, it is reported that two other people were shot as well, and that one is presently in critical condition.
Chris Brown was host of the pre-MTV VMA party at 1Oak nightclub in West Hollywood ahead of Sunday’s televised VMAs. He is up for several awards at the show. It is uncertain as to why he was targeted.
Other celebrities present at the time of the shooting included Justin Bieber, Tyson Beckford, and apl.de.ap from The Black Eyed Peas.

Suge Knight is reportedly out of surgery and is hospitalized in intensive care. He was apparently shot at six times during the incident, with two hits to his stomach and arm and potentially other body parts as well.
It is definitely a bit disconcerting to hear that Chris Brown was the intended target of this shooting, yet there are no reports confirming this. Sheriff’s investigators are handling the shooting probe and no arrests have yet been made.
Chris Brown is still on probation for beating Rihanna on the eve of the 2009 Grammy Awards. Rumors might have labeled him the target because he was the host of the party and has a lengthy criminal past.
TMZ is reporting that investigators are looking into a gang-related affiliation, citing Chris Brown, Suge Knight, and Game. Game is a longtime member of the Bloods. Suge Knight has a strong affiliation with them. Chris Brown was said to be ‘hanging with several gang bangers’ prior to the shooting.
