  • This was a very important match for Chelsea FC and Arsenal FC. A win would make the Blues level on points with Liverpool FC, the current league leaders. A win for the Gunners would have seen them return to the top of the league. Both teams had a lot on the line and many were expecting a blow-out. Unfortunately an exciting match, or even a high-scoring draw, was rained out at the Emirates. The London Derby ended in a disappointing 0-0 draw. Although many fans were sad to see a lack of goals, it was clear that both teams put in a great shift defensively. And despite the lack of a win for either team, they remain very much in the hunt for the league title.

As for current premier league leaders, Liverpool, they must defeat a formidable Manchester City if they hope to stay at the top of the table. A loss or draw would give Arsenal the chance to return to the top spot, provided they can beat West Ham United during their away match. A loss by Arsenal while defeating Liverpool would put Manchester City on top as Chelsea does not have enough points to make the leap due to having just failed to beat Arsenal. But a win for the Blues where other teams fall could send them as high up the table as second place. To get there, they’ll have to hold off Swansea City.

This is the crunch period for all the teams aspiring to gain a foothold in the top four, with a games coming up late in the week and and over the weekend. Arsenal and Chelsea will be disappointed to have lost the two points, as an unexpected upset could leave any of the top teams in a tough position by the end of the calendar year.
