There’s another royal baby in the world, and he came just in time for Christmas.
Charlotte Casiraghi, 27, of Monaco gave birth to a baby boy, Raphael, on Tuesday evening at Princess Grace Hospital around 9 p.m. according to a statement Casiraghi and her boyfriend, French actor-comedian Gad Elmaleh, released.
The palace communiquéé got a bit cheeky when releasing the news of the newest royal in Monaco saying, “grandmothers are doing well.” A Monaco palace source was quick to explain that “grandmothers” line was a “little joke from the parents.”
For those of you who may not know, Casiraghi’s mother is Princess Caroline, the daughter of the late Princess Grace.
A source said, “Everyone is very happy here. It is good news.”
The newest member of Monaco’s royal family was first visited by Princess Charlene and Prince Albert of Monaco in the same maternity ward Casiraghi was born in herself.
Elmaleh took to his Twitter to thank everyone for their kind messages.
Merci à tous pour vos gentils messages. Très touché.

For those who may not be fluent in French, this tweet translated says, “Thank you all for your kind messages. Very touched.”
The 42-year-old actor-comedian already has a 12-year-old son from a previous relationship with actress Anne Brochet.
In October Elmaleh spoke with People magazine about becoming a father again saying, “There’s lots of joy and excitement. I’m at a certain point in my life where building a family is very important.”
And he couldn’t help but gush over how great Casiraghi will be as a mother, “she’s healthy and very happy to become a mother. She will be the best in the world because she is generous and very loving. She has all the gifts for being a mother. She’s precious and very loving and kind.”
Raphael’s birth was also announced at a late meeting of the High Assembly by Laurent Nouvion, the president of the National Council. Nouvion said, “The royal family has a new member.”
