Charlie Watts Twitter Responses Reveal the Whole Joke
Written by Mike Tuttle

Charlie Watts is an intensely private man. The drummer for the Rolling Stones has been described by his bandmates as the cleanest one of the bunch, a very snappy dresser, and although he is a quiet fellow, not one to be trifled with.

U-T San Diego recently published an interview with Charlie Watts that he gave them 25 years ago. Charlie Wattts’ private nature was easy to see in that.

“It’s nice to talk about things that I love; the only thing is I don’t like talking about myself. I won’t read this (interview); I never do. I’m not being rude about it, I just don’t do that sort of thing.”

Good thing for Charlie Watts that the rest of the band is quite happy to do the talking for him.

“I’m fortunate, in that I have four people (in the Stones) who are very good at that; Mick (Jagger), in particular, is very good at giving interviews.”

In the end, Charlie Watts just wants to play music. He can’t be bothered with all the scandals and headlines that his bandmates have been involved in all these years.

“I’ve actually never been interested in all that stuff and still am not; I don’t know what show biz is and I’ve never watched MTV. There are people who just play instruments, and I’m pleased to know that I’m one of them.”

Charlie Watts was reluctant to participate in the first–ever Rolling Stones Q&A on Twitter recently. He did not understand why no one minded the inauthenticity of his participating in a Twitter Q&A when he has no intention of ever even starting a twitter account. Some of this responses were so terse and monosyllabic as to make the whole thing a joke.
