It’s finally going to happen! Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva will be stepping into the octagon together after they finish coaching the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil.
President of the UFC, Dana White, confirmed that the two would be coaching the new season of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil during an interview on Monday’s edition of Fox Sports Live.
“I told everybody we wouldn’t release it until sometime late November,” White said. “I guess we’ll do it here. The coaches of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil are Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen. That one’s going to piss off a lot of people. It’s happening. Then those two will fight. You two will coach The Ultimate Fighter, you will have a ton of security down there with you, and it should be a fun season.”
Sonnen was shocked at the announcement, and it took him a moment to react to the news. “I gotta react here, but you kind of caught me off guard,” said Sonnen. “We’ve had a little bit of talks about this, but I didn’t know it was final.”
The two have a heated rivalry that has seemed to grow this past year. Just look at Sonnen’s Twitter page and you can see the mocking comments that he has made towards Silva.

Both fighters have been coaches in the past. Sonnen coached season 17 of The Ultimate Fighter against Jon Jones, and Silva coached the first season of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil against Vitor Belfort.
Due to a back injury, Silva will not be able to participate in the action until early 2014. However, Sonnen will be going up against Rashad Evans in a fight that will be during UFC 167 in November. After that, Sonnen and Silva can settle their rivalry once and for all.
