Celine Dion has cancelled her weekend shows at Caesars Palace. The singer is mourning the death of her husband and manager, Rene Angelil.
Angelil died on Thursday morning after a lengthy fight with cancer.
“Rene Angelil, 73, passed away this morning at his home in Las Vegas after a long and courageous battle against cancer,” his rep said in a statement. “The family requests that their privacy be respected at the moment.”
Now, Celine is taking some time.
“With heavy hearts, we regret to inform you that Celine performances Saturday, Jan. 16 and Sunday, Jan. 17 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace have been cancelled. Celine earlier today announced the death of her husband Rene Angelil after a long fight with cancer. The couple had celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary last month,” reads a statement on her website.
According to Celine Dion, she’ll be back at it performing on February 23rd.
“All of us at AEG and at Caesars Palace have Celine and her children in our thoughts and prayers. We are sorry, too, for the fans who have travelled to see Celine perform this weekend,” continues the statement.
