  • Cathriona White, former girlfriend of actor Jim Carrey, was laid to rest in a funeral in Ireland on Saturday. Carrey served as one of several pallbearers, helping to carry the casket carrying Cathriona White into the Cappawhite Cemetery, where she was laid to rest beside her late father.

It was back on September 28 that Cathriona White was found dead in Sherman Oaks, California, as a result of a suspected suicide. She was found with several notes and several bottles of pills, including Ambien, Percocet, Zofran, and Propranolol.

Jim Carrey issued a statement about the passing of his on-and-off girlfriend via his publicist.

“I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona. She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt.”

Following Cathriona White’s funeral, Jim Carrey shared a Tweet that included a silhouette of him with White.

Even though Cathriona White had dated Jim Carrey, she was still legally married to a man in Ireland.

“She had a husband, we have a husband as next of kin,” an official from the Medical Examiner’s office said. “We’re not releasing any more information on next of kin, but we do have her as married.”

White’s stepmother and sister flew to California to arrange for her body to be returned to Ireland.

Condolences have no doubt been sent from both countries to Jim Carrey and to Cathriona White’s family on her untimely passing.
