There might be hope for those two crazy kids yet. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas announced their intent to separate, but not divorce, back in August. However, things are looking hopeful to Douglas, 69, that he might get to live out the rest of his days with wife, Catherine, who is 44. Can they save this 13-year marriage?
In an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”, Douglas seemed upbeat. “I’ve been away for a while, but everything should hopefully be on the up and up,” Douglas said. “Sometimes people take a little bit of a break, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that’s the end. So I’m very hopeful.”
At the time of their separation announcement in August, a source close to the couple said that Zeta-Jones’ public struggles with bipolar disorder and Douglas’ battle with throat cancer, which was later revealed to actually be tongue cancer, were to blame for the strain on their marriage. Either one of those two alone would have been a strain on any marriage.
Watch his appearance and see what you think.
The couple married back in 2000. They have two children together, ages 10 and 13. They seemed to be the anti-hollywood marriage poster couple just up until recent months. They both continue to wear wedding bands even as they appear in events separate from each other. That’s a good sign, right?
Maybe these two can be an inspiration to try to make things work for the rest of Hollywood, who are generally too quick to end things?
