As Sony announced during its Gamescom presentation yesterday, some next-gen launch titles this fall can be purchased for discounts, if current-gen versions of those same games are traded it. Today, Activision revealed that upgrading Call of Duty:Ghosts to next-gen will cost only $10 (£10/10€).

When the PlayStation 4 launches on November 15, gamers who purchased Ghosts on PlayStation 3 will be offered the PlayStation 4 game for $10 for a limited time. For physical copies, gamers can trade in PlayStation 3 copies of Ghosts (which launches on November 5) to Amazon and Gamestop and receive a PlayStation 4 copy of the game for $10. The same goes for Xbox 360 copies of Ghosts when the Xbox One launches sometime in November.

Gamers also don’t have to leave their first few weeks of gameplay behind for upgraded next-gen graphics. Activision has also announced that all in-game progress can be transferred to next-gen versions of Ghosts. In addition, season passes that are purchased for the current-gen version of Ghosts will carry over to next-gen versions.

We have the best fans in the world, and we want to make this transition as seamless and easy for them as possible,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing. “And there’s more news to come on that front. Stay tuned.”
