Earlier this week, Activision and Treyarch officially announced the final map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Titled, Apocalypse, the new add-on will contain four new competitive multiplayer maps and a new zombies mode map. Today, a video preview of the content in Apocalypse has been released.
The video shows David Vonderhaar, game design director at Treyarch, describing the thought behind each new map. Pod, the map set on a failed Taiwanese “utopian” village was imagined as a map where players could hop from one small pod-house to another. Frost, which depicts a snow-covered Amsterdam, centers action around a canal bridge and on ice. Takeoff, a remake of the Call of Duty: Black Ops map Stadium, has been re-skinned as a rocket launch facility. Dig, also a remake of the Call of Duty: World at War map Courtyard, is redesigned as an archaeological dig site.
Most of the video is given to the new zombies mode map, Origins. The map is set in World War 1 trenches and features dynamic weather, new weapons, and, of course, zombies. In addition, the giant, 1,000-foot-tall robot teased earlier this week will be striding across the map.
