If you told everyone that Brooklyn Nine-Nine was going to win multiple awards during last night’s Golden Globe ceremony, then most people probably would have told you that you were crazy.
Andy Samberg even reacted to his nomination to someone on the Red Carpet when saying “I didn’t realize I was an actor” in his usual comedic way. Whether Andy Samberg considers himself an actor or not, his show was responsible for winning two awards last night.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine collected a couple of huge surprises last night when it won for Best Television Series-Musical or Comedy and Andy Samberg received an award for the show with Best Performance By An Actor In A Television Series-Musical or Comedy.
Samberg was totally shocked at his win, and just about everyone else in the world was too. What made it even more special was the fact that another member of the SNL family was able to give him the award, Seth Myers. Andy Samberg beat out Jason Bateman, Don Cheadle, Jim Parsons and Michael J. Fox to win the award.
wow. i thought Brooklyn Nine-Nine was my little secret. i can't believe it won the Golden Globe!

When he accepted the award, he was clearly not prepared for the win and said “Oh no! I didn’t prepare anything. It wasn’t gonna happen. You guys — the Globes, right? Who knew?! I guess I’ll just thank everyone.” He thanked the usual suspects, Fox, the cast and creators, and with a bit of sarcasm, he thanked his “team” as some of the other winners had done.
He then proceeded to laugh the entire time that Andy Samberg was accepting the win for Brooklyn Nine-Nine, partly because of the way that he was accepting it, and partly because of how funny it was that Brooklyn Nine-Nine even won.
There were a number of awards that went the way that everyone was expecting and some that could have gone either way, but Brooklyn Nine-Nine was definitely not predicted to win.
After premiering on Fox in September, Brooklyn Nine-Nine was the freshman nominee among powerhouse shows such as Parks and Recreation, Modern Family, The Big Bang Theory and the HBO fan favorite Girls, the other nominees in the category last night. Girls won last year, and many people were predicting it to win again this year.
Pleasantly surprised for the Andy Samberg win! Brooklyn Nine-Nine is one of my favorite new shows this year.

In a very surprising night for TV comedy, the Golden Globes have certainly given a warm welcome to Fox’s new comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and the show already has more wins than Parks and Recreation, which has been on for six seasons and is beloved by the fans.
