Borderlands 2 was easily game of the year for many gamers around the world last year. The co-op shooter took the tight gameplay from the original and injected a lot more personality into it. It’s received plenty of support this year in the form of DLC packs, and now all of those DLC expansions will be included with the base game.

2K and Gearbox Software announced today that Borderlands 2 will be getting a game of the year edition. This special edition of the game will be available October 8 for $60 on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. A PS Vita version was only just recently announced and we have no idea which DLC, if any, will be included with the portable version of the title.

“For us and for fans, the love for Borderlands 2 has been nothing short of spectacular, so it’s natural for us here at Gearbox Software to want everyone else to have a chance to experience the best-selling game and its most valuable expansion content,” said Randy Pitchford, President of Gearbox Software. “The Borderlands 2 Game of the Year Edition offers more value than ever before in one package, giving everyone an opportunity to become a legendary Vault Hunter, and join in the award winning mayhem and fun.”

So, what do you get with the Borderlands 2 Game of the Year Edition? The title comes with every DLC pack released thus far, including the Premier Club content that was only available to those who pre-ordered the title last year:

  • Borderlands 2 Main Game
  • Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty
  • Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage
  • Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt
  • Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep
  • Creature Slaughter Dome
  • Gaige, the Mechromancer Character Class
  • Gearbox Gun Pack
  • Golden Key
  • Vault Hunter’s Relic
  • Krieg, the Psycho Character Class
  • Collector’s Edition Heads and Skins
  • Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 1
  • Even with all this content, gamers who pick up Borderlands 2 Game of the Year Edition can still look forward to getting more DLC later this year. Gearbox revealed at PAX Australia that it’s currently working on another level pack for Borderlands 2 that will increase the level cap to 72. It’s also working on another campaign DLC pack that brings back T.K. Baha from the first Borderlands.
