  • The above picture, courtesy of the Los Angeles Times, shows a black bear Fish and Game authorities were forced to tranquilize Tuesday after he was becoming too familiar a face to local Angeles foothill residence. The bear was popular on Twitter for his garbage day treasure hunts and overnight feasting. The Los Angeles Times reports he was captured La Crescenta backyard at around 7:30 am.

He weighed in at 250 pounds, but some reports early on identified him as a four hundred pound bear. He’s a handsome guy, and more pictures of him strolling through LA streets can be found by following this link.

Martin Wall, a California fish and game officer commented on moving the bear after tranquilizing him:

    “The timing was real good,”

“I was on my way down here. But it could be difficult to move him. It’s going to take a couple people.”

” [It was] like moving a water bed without a frame.”
