Bella Thorne sat down for an interview with Seventeen recently, and the Scream star opened up about some painful topics, including a real-life “mean girl” in Hollywood and why she doesn’t want to learn to drive.
Thorne says there’s a particular girl in the business who’s always had money and is so spoiled that she treats others horribly. While she won’t name names, fans have had a fun time trying to figure out who she’s talking about.
“I have a mean girl. She’s in the business, and she’s very, very mean. I stay away from her at all costs. I never say hello to her. Her siblings are not mean like she is. It’s just her. One of the reasons I don’t like her is because she’s been a billionaire since she was very little, and she’s never had to work for anything in her life,” Thorne said.
Bella has played a mean girl herself, in the movie The Duff, but in real life she’s the complete opposite of the kind of girl she avoids. In fact, she says her family didn’t have a lot of money when she was growing up and that they used food stamps.
“I don’t think anybody really knew – it wasn’t a very obvious thing. I’ve never really talked about it. I wasn’t hiding it, and it wasn’t like, ‘Oh, I’m embarrassed because we don’t have money.’ It was, ‘Oh, we don’t have money, so we’re going to work that much harder.’ It was scary, though, because you really want those jobs. It’s a different hunger when you want your family to eat.”
Bella Thorne also spoke a bit about why she hasn’t learned to drive yet, even though she’s 18 years old. The actress says that after she lost her father to a motorcycle accident in 2007, she’s afraid to get behind the wheel.
“I have a fear of driving. I’m not mature enough to accept the responsibility of perhaps taking someone else’s life.”
