Twenty-eight-year-old Katy Perry shared details about a previous interview that she gave veteran television personality, Barbara Walters. According to Billboard magazine, Katy Perry had scheduled the interview, but it took place during a difficult and vulnerable time for the singer.

Barbara Walters apparently was not too happy with the “Roar” songstress for arriving after her scheduled time, and had no qualms about telling Katy so. Though this was a bleak time for Katy Perry, she did not explain the difficulties surrounding her life at the time to Barbara.

“I shouldn’t have done the interview: I was playing Madison Square Garden that same night, and I knew that the end of my marriage was coming. I was just exhausted and stressed. I’d prepped everyone that I was running late, but Barbara showed up at the original time anyway,” Katy Perry recently retold the story.

Barbara Walters reaction to Katy Perry’s late arrival was one of obvious displeasure. “When I got there, I apologized immediately, but then she said to me, ‘You know, I’ve only ever waited for one other person this long, and you know who that person was? Judy Garland. You know how she turned out, right?’ I was like, ‘Oh, snap! Yes, bitch!’ I think it’s the coolest thing that Barbara Walters shaded me. I just couldn’t tell her as we were sitting down for a mega-interview, ‘Hey, my marriage is falling apart. Give me a break,'” Katy Perry said.

Katy is currently dating John Mayer; however, she was married to British actor Russell Brand around the time of her interview with Barbara Walters. Though it is unclear exactly what day the interview happened, it is unlikely that Barbara held any lingering negativity towards Katy Perry as Katy was chosen as one of Barbara’s “Top 10 Most Fascinating People of 2011” in December of 2011.
