It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything new about Arrested Development, which as of Season 4, is considered a Netflix Original.

Last we heard, a Season 5 was “definitely” in the cards. Will Arnett, who plays GOB on the show, confirmed this on The Tonight Show a couple months ago after Netflix content chief Ted Sarandos was quoted as saying he was “positive” another season was coming.

“The truth is that the guy who is the big boss man at Netflix – he announced this…it’s gonna happen,” Arnett said. “We don’t know when, but it is gonna happen.”

Things have been pretty quiet on the Arrested front lately, but now creator Mitch Hurwitz has provided some news. Unfortunately it’s not about Season 5 or the long-anticipated movie, but about Season 4. He’s re-cutting it. He told Pretentious Film Majors (via Uproxx):

“Right now, I’m cutting a version of season four that tells it chronologically.”

It’s unclear if the re-edited version would appear on Netflix or become available by DVD or some other means.

As you may know, Season 4 was constructed in an entirely different way than previous seasons, which might be part of the reason it wasn’t quite as well received as the others. While many still found it enjoyable, few would probably rank it as the best season. It could be interesting to see how it plays in the more traditional format.
