Ariana Grande Relies on Extensions for Signature ‘Do

Ariana Grande rocked the stage on New Years Eve just three weeks ago sporting her signature hairstyle that has every young girl in America asking how does her hair. Finally feeling the need to get some serious weight off her chest, Grande has come clean about her ‘do, admitting that it’s only with the help of hair extensions she’s able to create her famous style.

“My real hair is back to brown,” she said during a recent MTV interview, “and I wear extensions but I wear it in a pony tail because my actual hair is so broken that it looks absolutely ratchet and absurd when I let it down.”

Questions started coming more frequently in recent months since Ariana has long worn her hair in the same style. She shares that it was as a result of her role as Cat on Nickelodeon’s Victorious and Sam & Cat that led her to wearing the hair extensions.

“I had to bleach my hair and dye it red every other week for the first 4 years of playing Cat,” she said. “As one would assume, that completely destroyed my hair.”

One might never have guessed had Ariana Grande not let the “Cat” out of the bag, so to speak. The petite 20-year-old known for hit songs like The Way has an incredible four octave singing range and has been compared with the likes of Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. Surely a little thing like hair extensions won’t hurt the singer and actor’s image.

Grande admits she tried wigs and once even tried a weave to prevent fans from learning how she destroyed her hair.

“Tried a weave because I am working on a new project and want to try some different looks and literally wanted to rip my scalp off,” she shared during her interview.

What would she most like to do regarding her hair? She’d like for everyone to simply stop talking about it and listen to her sing instead.

And that certainly doesn’t seem so far fetched given that singing voice and unthinkable range–now does it?
