Anne Hathaway begs the question is all that glitters really gold? She wore a lot of the color at the Met Gala–in the form of a dress with a strange hood and gold heels, too. It’s likely worth mentioning that Anne Hathaway also carried a gold clutch and accessorized with gold earrings as well.
The Ralph Lauren number was a custom gold lame column evening dress. It had a definite sci-fi feel. Or maybe it was ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ done up in gold. Perhaps it was a bad combination of the two.
“I kind of feel like I’m from the Deco future,” she said on the red carpet.
The Princess Diaries star was accompanied by her husband, Adam Shulman. He wore Ralph Lauren, too, but fortunately his was a Black Label white dinner jacket paired with black tuxedo pants and black velvet slippers by the same designer. There wasn’t a speck of gold on the man–and that’s a good thing, too. Anne Hathaway glowed enough for both of them.

If that take isn’t quite enough gold for your liking, check out Anne Hathaway from head to toe instead.

This year’s Met Gala theme was China. Do you see much about that dress that screams ‘China?’
What’s your take on the ensemble Ralph Lauren designed for Anne Hathaway for the Met Gala? Do you think she was celebrating Star Wars day instead of the Chinese theme? Did she (or Ralph Lauren) get their messages crossed?
