Andrew W.K. Is Now An Ambassador Of Partying

To some, Andrew W.K. is the crazy guy who smashed himself in the face with a brick to attain the bloody carnage pictured on the cover of his 2001 album “I Get Wet”. To others, he’s the crazy guy who dances like a lunatic to hardcore party anthems of his own creation and takes over the piano like a long-haired version of Jerry Lee Lewis, almost beating the crap out of it in his frenzy to have a good time. To kids, he’s the crazy guy who hosts the Cartoon Network’s “Destroy Build Destroy”.

While he’s all of those things and more, W.K. is also now a Cultural Ambassador–officially–to the Middle East. His new post was just appointed by the State Department, and he’s taking it super seriously. Obviously.

“This is a tremendous invitation,” he said in a statement on his site. “I’m very thankful to the Department of State for giving me the opportunity to visit a place I’ve never been before. And I feel very privileged and humbled by the chance to represent the United States of America and show the good people of Bahrain the power of positive partying. I can hardly wait for this adventure!”

Do work, buddy. We’ll dance along with you.
